Core holdings of WCC Archives of various producers and in various formats


WCC Archives room AWCC Archives holds the archives of the WCC since its foundation in 1948 as well as the archives of the various ecumenical organizations and movements preceding the WCC or merging with it in the course of the 20th century, such as Faith & Order, Life & Work, the International Missionary Council and the World Council on Christian Education.

It is also the repository of the archives of sister organizations like the World Alliance of Reformed Churches or the Conference of European Churches and of personal papers of former general secretaries and other ecumenical personalities.



Archives boxes

WCC Archives gives access to some 2,000 running meters of archival documents, or 18,000 archival boxes, 500,000 photographs (negatives, slides and prints), 3,000 sound tapes and 1,000 films and videos.



WCC Library journals

For reasons of limited space in Bossey, minor collections of the WCC Library on church history, Christian denominations, doctrinal theology, and more than 1,000 academic journals are housed in the WCC Archives and available for consultation in the reading room.
